Sasha and Dusky show why Newcastle’s Shindig has been one of the great bastions of northern nightlife for 21 years.

Since 1992, Newcastle promoters Shindig have been putting on events in creative spaces across the city, “recrafting, re-inventing and remixing” Tyneside rave culture. Despite their formidable size and reputation, Shindig nights still have the buzz and intimacy of a secret warehouse party, and are known for breaking new artists rather than putting on the flavour of the month. Describing themselves as “highly allergic to trends” and “giving rawness to the rave,” they focus on innovative house and techno, and have recently found a new home in the city’s Hoults Yard at Warehouse 34.
